Welcome to MSA-1 Books Online!
A Brief History
MSA-1 published the first book in 1990. They were stapled together and... well... ugly.
With a small 1/6 page ad in Chevrolet High Performance magazine, they all sold out in
the first month. As early as 1967, I was writing Casting Numbers and Codes down to find
out what it all meant. I was only 10. And, of course, it was Dad's fault, he said,
"Write it down and we'll find
out what those numbers and codes on the engines tell us."
The research began. Well, here we are a couple years later, a few salvage yards later,
a couple of Swap Meets later, a few visits to Chevrolet's engine plants later and the
list of CASTING NUMBERS and SUFFIX CODES are very complete and very accurate.
I have found, in the numbers game, you never use the word ALL - it gets you in trouble.
Handy and Relevant Tools
My books are updated regularly and they are designed to fit in your pocket, so when you go
searching for parts, you can IDENTIFY them before you buy.
They are like a treasure map while you are searching for treasure...
like when I found an ORIGINAL aluminum ZL-1 intake at a swap meet a couple years ago that
the person sold me for the price of just any old BIG block intake. When you have the
numbers with you, you can find the good stuff and leave the junk.
These books make our hobby / obsession FUN!
